When a rewire may be worth considering
Not every older home needs a full rewire — sometimes a partial does the job. Indicators worth assessing:
- Original rubber-insulated cabling on older properties
- Round-pin sockets or cloth/braided lighting flex
- Brown stains around sockets or switches (heat damage)
- An EICR flagging significant remedials across multiple circuits
- Major renovation or extension work
Full vs. partial rewire
A full rewire replaces every cable, accessory, and the consumer unit — bringing the property fully up to BS 7671. A partial rewire targets specific circuits where the rest of the installation tests sound.
We'll never recommend a full rewire if a partial does the job. We carry out an EICR first to baseline the existing installation and recommend the right scope for your property.

Often, yes — particularly for modern back boxes. We confirm what's being kept versus replaced before we start.
We flush every cable chase so a coat of paint will cover it. We don't paint as a finish — that's typically your decorator's role afterwards.
