Common faults we deal with
Electrical faults rarely happen at convenient times. We're set up to diagnose and resolve a range of common issues, including:
- RCDs tripping repeatedly or refusing to reset
- Loss of power to part of the property
- Lights flickering or dimming when other appliances run
- Burning smells, scorching or heat damage at sockets/switches
- Buzzing, sparking when plugging in, or warm switches
- Recurring trips on a single circuit
If you notice a burning smell, sparking or heat damage, stop using the circuit and call us as soon as possible.
How we work
We bring proper test equipment โ insulation testers, clamp meters, earth-loop testers โ so we can trace the fault rather than guess. Once it's identified we'll explain the issue, what's involved in resolving it, and provide a clear quote before any repair work begins.

It depends on the area and current workload. For genuine emergencies (no power, burning smell, sparking) we prioritise wherever possible. Call us and we'll be honest about availability.
If the fault can't be resolved on the day (rare with intermittent issues), we'll only charge for time spent investigating. We always quote any repair work in writing before it goes ahead.
No. An RCD trips because there's a fault. Repeated resetting can stress the device and, depending on the cause, may make a problem worse. Stop resetting and call us.
